Support Our Troops presents Public Open House
On Saturday November 5, 2016, the Lieutenant Governor’s National Support Our Troops program will host an open house where the public can speak with personnel from Canadian Armed Forces, and view displays and demonstrations of military equipment. The open house will run from noon to 3:00 P.M. in Banner Hall at Evraz Place, Regina. Admission is free. Read more...
At the open house, staff from the Saskatchewan Military Museum will be available to speak about museum exhibits on display and the history of our armed forces. Royal Canadian Navy members will demonstrate a small arms trainer, where visitors will be able to fire simulated weapons using lasers. They will also explain the use of a small boat used in harbour security, and a Hurricane boat used to teach basic seamanship skills.
The Canadian Army will display a variety of reconnaissance vehicles, communications and infantry equipment, ambulance and medical equipment, and a gun tractor and howitzer.
Personnel from Royal Canadian Air Force 15 Wing, Moose Jaw will demonstrate a mock aircraft ejection seat and a flight simulator that the public can try out.
Personnel from the Military Family Resource Centre will be available to discuss the programs they administer to support our troops and their families. Information about the Cadet movement will also be available....show less

Canada's Governor General, His Excellency, The Right Honourable David Johnston is Honorary Patron of the Support Our Troops Gala.
The Royal Canadian Air Force Band is made up of 25 professional musicians, who provide a wide range of music at events of all types in Canada and around the world.
Singer Rory Allen will present his GI Blues show. Allen is Saskatchewan’s internationally recognized Elvis Presley tribute artist.
American Bombshells is a trio of female singers based in New York presenting music from the Second World War and post-war years. The professional entertainers are involved in programs to support military personnel.
Murphy is one of Canada’s most recognized personalities, noted for his humour, insight and wit as a popular national CBC commentator.
The Support Our Troops Gala was announced by the Lieutenant Governor late last year as a major fundraiser to support the Military Families Fund and the Soldier On Program.
“I’m absolutely delighted to have these wonderful entertainers as part of the Gala,” said Solomon Schofield. “The headline entertainment will be first class, and more announcements about the Gala will be made as plans are finalized. I urge Saskatchewan people to join us in honouring our military men and women, and our military families.”

Lieutenant Governor launches national Support Our Troops fundraiser in 2016
Saskatchewan’s Lieutenant Governor, Vaughn Solomon Schofield, today announced a national Support Our Troops Gala on November 5, 2016 in Regina, to support military service personnel and their families. “Canadian men and women commit their lives to our protection, and often sacrifice to serve,” said Solomon Schofield. “This Gala will be a public expression honouring those commitments and sacrifices, and will raise funds for organizations that support military personnel and their families. I urge Saskatchewan people to join us in honouring our military and their families.”
Funds raised will go to the Military Families Fund and the Soldier On Program.
